How do I tell whether a New Idea corn-harvesting part belongs to the picker or husking unit?
Trace where the failed part sits in the crop path, then identify the exact unit. On 324 or 325 equipment, gathering-unit parts are different from the attached 326 or 327 husking-unit parts, so match the unit, original callout, and side of machine before ordering.
New Idea corn-harvesting equipment is often identified by the picker model, but the machine can include separate systems with their own parts paths. The 323 is a one-row picker; the 324 and 325 are two-row gathering units. A 326 or 327 husking unit may be attached behind a 324 or 325, so it needs to be identified separately before you search for a replacement.
Locate the failed section of the crop path
Begin at the snout and gathering chains, then follow ears through the snapping rolls, clearing rolls, first elevator, husking bed, wagon elevator, or sheller. Gear cases, axles, frames, and drives are separate assemblies. Record whether the part is left or right side and count chain links or teeth when those details control fit.
Do not mix gathering-unit and husking-unit parts
For 324 and 325 equipment, parts for husking and ear-forwarding functions can belong to the 326 or 327 husking unit rather than the gathering unit itself. Use the correct catalog path and original callout before ordering a chain, roll, gearbox, brush, or elevator component.
