How to Identify Your Maytag Wringer Washer Model

The Maytag Company was very consistent with using the same parts from the Model E beginning in 1939 through models J, N, E2LP, Square Aluminum Tub, N2LP Round Porcelain tub, and J2LP Square Porcelain tub washers built up through 1969. With a few exceptions on specific parts relating to a square tub, round tub, tub gaskets, or wringer rollers for either a round or square tub model. All the other parts universally fit all the listed models. Therefore, it is not important to pinpoint by serial number if you ID your machine to match one of the pictures on the identification chart to one of the listed models. Older models such as the once popular Model 32 and prior models do not have reproduction parts being made by the Amish. A few other models sandwiched in between the model years, such as Model K, Model NX, and Model R, were not as popular; therefore, parts are not available for them. 

Identification by Serial Number

The ID chart cross-references with known serial numbers for the model numbers and years they were built. These serial numbers were compiled by members of the Maytag Collectors Club https://www.maytagcollectorsclub.org and have been printed on the ID sheet with the model and serial number stamped on the outside of the tub, most likely around 2" down from the top. Other than that, common name plates and model decals were not used, making it very difficult to ID the machine by a name plate.

Parts for Drain Pump Models

The Maytag parts are being remanufactured by Amish companies to keep their old wringer washers operational. Since the Amish only use the machines as gravity drain models, they do not make parts for the drain pumps.
